alljig Modernization - Efficient Refurbishment of Jigging Machines in Mineral Processing

Many mineral processing plants have been operating reliably for decades. At the same time, requirements for efficiency, process stability and operational reliability continue to increase. Spare parts availability, energy consumption and performance reserves are becoming increasingly important for technical managers and decision makers.

Modernizing existing alljig jigging machines offers the opportunity to bring proven processing technology up to date. Modern plant technology enables performance optimization and more stable processes without increasing the existing footprint.

Why are existing jigging machines modernized?

Existing jigging machines often operate reliably for many years. However, as operating time increases, demands on spare parts availability, energy efficiency and process stability also rise.

The goal of modernization is to renew the technical basis of the plant while continuing to use the existing infrastructure. This makes it possible to unlock performance reserves, increase operational reliability and ensure long-term economic operation.

What Measures Are Involved in Modernization and Replacement?

During modernization, key components of the jigging machine remain in place and are technically upgraded. The goal is to unlock performance reserves and increase operational reliability.

In the case of complete replacement, the existing jigging machine is removed and replaced with a new unit. In addition to supplying the new machine, further work is required to technically enable the replacement.

Typical modernization measures include:

  • Renewal or optimization of individual components
  • Adaptation of control and drive technology
  • Improvement of process stability and energy efficiency

Required accompanying measures during replacement:

  • Dismantling of the existing jigging machine
  • Installation and commissioning of the new unit
  • Modifications to piping systems
  • Adjustments to existing steel structures

Practical example - How was the alljig modernization implemented at Heinrich Niemeier?

A practical example illustrates how such measures can be implemented in real plant operation. At the Sprotta site near Leipzig, Heinrich Niemeier GmbH & Co. KG decided to fully replace two alljig gravel jigging machines from 1994. Due to the condition of the plant, modernization of the main components was not considered. The objective was to renew the proven processing technology while simultaneously improving plant performance.

allmineral was commissioned to replace the two jigging machines of type G 2200 × 2000. In addition to supplying the new alljig units, the scope of work included new blowers, piping construction, modifications to the existing steel structure, as well as all dismantling and installation activities.

The new alljig jigging machines were successfully commissioned in March 2025.

What Does Modernization Mean in Day-to-Day Operation?

The implementation of modernization measures is carefully planned and coordinated with ongoing plant operation. The objective is to keep downtime as short as possible and resume production quickly.

Through coordinated disassembly, assembly and commissioning, the new technology can be efficiently integrated into existing plants.

Which economic effects result from modernization?

Modernization increases the performance of the processing plant and reduces long-term operating and maintenance costs. More efficient processes lower energy consumption and improve planning reliability.

As a result, the existing plant is upgraded both technically and economically to meet future requirements.

What role does allmineral play in modernization projects?

allmineral supports modernization projects from technical planning through commissioning. In addition to supplying modern processing technology, this also includes adapting existing infrastructure and coordinating all required activities.

Operators receive a solution from a single source that is precisely aligned with their individual plant conditions.

FAQ on the modernization of alljig jigging machines

An alljig jigging machine is a gravity separation system that separates material based on density and is used in mineral processing.

In addition to the jigging machines themselves, blowers, piping systems, steel structures as well as mechanical and electrical components are often adapted.

The duration depends on the scope of the project. The objective is always a rapid return to operation.

Modern alljig technology makes it possible to unlock performance reserves, reduce operating costs and increase plant availability without expanding the existing footprint. This makes modernization economically viable even for older plants.
